I'll try to explain why some of them might not work. Lemme take a look. Of course please understand that if a suggestion gets eliminated it is nothing personal. We can have up to 20 and I just want them to be the best of the best and not leave room for misinterpretation or confusion.

Just being a solid penciler will not win you shit, if you lack creativity, you know? Judges will be advised to really look at the purpose behind a drawing and how well the catagory is drawn out. Being good is one thing, but our creativness should know NO bounds. The winner is going to be the one who goes all out on everything. You will NEVER lose, if you do your best. Here it is from my point of view. Losing might upset me a little, BUT I will be forced to look at WHY I lost. Analyze what I did that cost me and learn from it. I don't have a scanner so I'll have to balance out the photo of the piece in PS to make it look like it does live. As long as there's no colours it's fine (I hope, otherwise someone will have to buy me a good scanner :P)

2006-09-01 [Evilmonk]: Iron, I gotta tell ya, I think we are going to end up taking some of those down. Let me explain why. The Superheros thing is pretty basic. I don't feel it really encourages any creativity. There are lots of folks out there who can draw a superhero off the top of their head. Same with graffiti. I DO concider it an artform, but then again Photography is an art form as well, but is not allowed. It doesn't leave much room for "outside the box" thinking and I don't feel it would present a great deal of challenge. I'm not saying it is easy, but for a lot of the artists, the majority I believe, it would probably not be very fun either. The video game thing would sort of fall under the FanArt Catagory we have used for this tournament, which we may well re-enter into the next tournament if folks would like, in which case your suggestion and intrest would be represented under.
I don't want you to feel as if I am just shooting down your ideas, I'm not beliEVE me. They are all good ones, but I feel they fall just a little shy on the 'pushing yourself creatively' side of things. Keep putting them up if you got em, but really dwell on it for a bit, see what you come up with. =)

It's not meant to offend, it just seems like some of them would not push folks creativly, and maybe are geared towards an individual artists specialty, and this tournament is about going somewhere you haven't been.
Just try not to be disappointed if something you submitted gets pulled. They are all good ideas in their own way but some just don't fit the feel of the contest. We'll update when we can, but keep throwing them up there people!
